Your self-talk can help or hinder your writing. Most harmful self-talk is just old mental audio tapes that we habitually play in our head, featuring the voices of parents, teachers, bosses, and others.
If you suspect your self-talk is harmful, take charge, and change your negative self-talk to positive affirmations. If you persist with your affirmations, they will become beliefs.
In the beginning, your affirmations will seem like lies. That's fine: keep repeating your affirmations, and your life will begin to change.
This page features some excellent writers' affirmations:
I allow myself plenty of time for my writing projects.
I think about my writing projects even when I am not actively working on them.
I make notes of my thoughts on my writing projects.
Write your own affirmations, and keep repeating them until your affirmations match your behaviour and reality.
