"Who ate the president?" is an interview with Glen David Gold, the author of Carter Beats the Devil.
>>>
This is the first novel by Gold, 40, a graduate of the creative writing workshop at the University of California, Irvine. Gold describes this book as a historical novel with a fictional plot based on real people and events: magician and master of illusion Charles Carter; the mysterious death of U.S. president William Harding, whose administration did not excel in good governance and who was supposedly about to suffer a major political scandal; and the inventor of television, the young Philo Farnsworth.
Others who appear in minor roles include magician Harry Houdini and the Marx brothers.
