Hooking and credits - write for money

I'm writing about hooking and credits in this week's Fab Freelance Writing Ezine. It's out tomorrow, so if you're curious, subscribe.

I've been publishing the ezine in PDF format for a few weeks - easier to read and to print - and subscribers love it. You receive the download link and can collect the PDF at your leisure.

With great writing credits, your writing income goes up

Credits are vital to a freelance writer. Once you work your way up the ladder of credits, YOU set your rates. And, since you're making great money per word, you can pick and choose the projects you take on. Once you have the credits, you'll find that you're more than happy to decline projects - you'll only got a limited amount of time to write each day, and the best paying projects deserve that time.

Read the rest in tomorrow's ezine.

Web site creation for beginning freelance writers: new videos make it easy

Want to create your own Web sites? It's much easier than you think. It's also a valuable skill.

Yes, most commercial sites are created by designers, however:

* Good designers have long waiting lists;

* Hiring a designer before a site is created is usually a mistake. As pretty as a site may be, it's the CONTENT which creates traffic and makes sales. And the content is written by a writer. Why not learn to create basic sites yourself? You can present the site as-is - the site buyer or your client can hire a designer to jazz up the site at any time.

Here's the thing: many people want Web sites, but getting it done is a long and intimidating process for many small businesses. As a freelance writing who can create small sites on demand, you're golden;

* Writing "content" is regarded as a low-value skill by many people online. When you can frame that content in a Web site, you provide a venue which truly shows the worth of your writing skills;

* The Web is becoming enmeshed in the lives of everyone all over the globe. When you can create small, basic Web pages and sites, not only can you make a great living as a freelance writer, you can pick and choose your clients.

I've sourced a set of videos for you if you're new to site creation. The videos are an ideal companion to my ebook package "Super-Fast Money-Making Web Sites For Writers: Join The Web-Publishing Bonanza".

Here's more on the videos: "New Videos: Create Your Own Web Sites With NVU Free Web Site Creation Software".

Please note, if you're on a slow connection, contact me before you buy, and I'll send you the videos on CD. They comprise a 100-meg download.

Media Power For Writers: Every Freelance Writer Needs Copywriting Skills

In tomorrow's issue of Fab Freelance Writing Ezine, we take your freelance writing to a whole new level with the article "Media Power For Writers: Every Freelance Writer Needs Copywriting Skills".

Here's an excerpt:

While there are hundreds of thousands of writers, there are few writers who have the skills needed to operate a business. And because freelance writing is a business, you need copywriting skills to let people know about you. When people know about you, you’ll get hired, with all the writing gigs you can handle, and then some.

The ability to write press releases is the most powerful copywriting skill you can develop, and whether you want to write press releases for others or not, you need to discover how to write them for your writing business. When you’re your own PR person, the sky’s the limit for your potential.

If your writing career's in the doldrums, read this issue. It's also a must-read if you're a new writer: once you discover the power of publicity, a successful writing career is assured.

Enjoy. :-)

The secret to getting all the writing gigs you want, free

I've been sharing my writing gig-getting secrets with my writing students for years, but this nifty way of getting writing gigs and selling products deserves to be more widely known.

Here it is - Craigslist. Craiglist is completely free to use to get writing and editing gigs.

Since Craigslist is so easy to use, there's not much to the process. However, using Craigslist effectively and getting the most out of it takes some knowhow.

I recently stumbled across the The Craigslist Profits Guide and knew I had to share it with you. It enables you to use Craigslist to its fullest potential. I've been using Craigslist for years, and many of the ideas were completely new to me.

It's 41 pages packed with info, and here's the best news: you can profit from  this ebook when you sell it to others.

So go ahead - this ebook has to be one of the big bargains of 2007. Without hyping it too much, if you use the tactics described, you can double and triple what you make from your writing this year.

Start your own freelance writing services business

Writers are in high demand, so if you're sick of your day job, and want to develop a freelance writing career, your timing couldn't be better.

So how do you get started? You go where the opportunities are currently; in Web writing and copywriting.

Who's hiring? The Web's open for business

Mainstream media (newspapers, magazines) are heading for the Web, fast. This is purely practical. Advertising dollars are heading for the Web, so advertising-supported media is too. However, there's more online than media. In fact media publications are only a tiny portion of all the millions of Web sites.

So when you're looking for Web writing gigs, think of people who are working on the Web, and who need writers - companies which develop Web sites. Set up your own Web site so you'll have somewhere to point potential clients, and schmooze online, at Webmaster forums and on social networking sites.

Copywriting opportunities are everywhere

As long as there are businesses, there will be copywriters earning a great living. I cover how to start your copywriting services business in Seven Days To Easy Money: Copywriting Success.
