Yesterday's post "Just write it: make peace with your writing self" struck a chord with many people.
Here's another writing tip that I've found useful: multi-task when you're working on several writing projects. This puts less pressure on you. I multi-task blog posts, and ezine articles, because the creative process for writers works something like this: inspiration (the idea), gestation (the idea simmers, and gathers other ideas to itself, often subconsciously), draft(s) - working out the idea, and final draft(s).
I write half a dozen posts/ articles at a time. That is, I think of the hook/ slant for an article, and develop a couple of points for one, then go on to another. While I'm noodling on these items, I'm very relaxed. I don't strain. If I feel that I'm tense, I'll do something else for a while. Tension destroys creativity.
If you're a new writer, multi-tasking may not work for you, because you haven't yet learned to drive, so to speak. You're still training your subconscious mind to deliver what you want. You'll need to model a particular form first - I covered modeling in this week's ezine article. Once you've learned a particular form, your subconscious is trained to look for material. It's very much like learning to drive. When you first learn to drive, you're aware of everything you do, but over time, driving becomes automatic, you don't need to consciously think about it.
You'll find more information in how to write more easily in my "writing more" ebook.
