NaNoWriMo QuickStart 3: Your characters' professions

Whether you're committed to writing 50,000 words of your novel in November, or are just thinking about it, creating several characters will help you to get into high gear quickly on November 1.

Your characters' professions
You'll need anywhere from two to five primary characters, depending on the ultimate length of your novel.

There are many ways to create characters. The easiest way is to start by choosing your characters' professions. You spend at least ten hours a day at work, and the work you do says a lot about you.

Over the next week or so, think about your characters' professions. The profession you choose for your hero or heroine forms a setting for your character too, so when you're thinking about professions, you're also getting started on settings.
