Copywriting Promotions Tips: #5 Write letters to the editor
This is a sneaky way to promote your business. Read your local paper. Is there a local issue that you feel strongly about? If so, write the editor a letter. Your letter needs to include what you do for a living, and it should also include a way for people to contact you.
I've never used this strategy because I've never had the time, but I know several writers who have, and who've increased their business as a result. One writer was hired full-time by a corp he'd been targeting for a couple of years. The corp had had a falling out with its agency, and my enterprising friend's letter piqued the marketing exec's interest.
